Extern, the leading social justice Charity has today been awarded a major contract by the Irish Youth Justice Service to deliver a ‘Bail Supervision Scheme’ across Ireland. The Dublin based contract, will see Extern take forward a pilot scheme working alongside the Irish Youth Justice Service through the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, to ensure young people on bail and their families are supported through a dedicated scheme to address their needs.

The scheme will provide support through the use of Multisystemic Therapy (MST), an Evidence-Based approach which seeks to understand the factors that contribute to the young person’s behaviour.

MST is an internationally recognised Evidence Based Programme, with significant research to validate its positive impact. The pilot contract has been awarded for 2 years. Extern already delivers a number of successful Government funded schemes across Ireland, working with TUSLA and An Garda Síochána."

Commenting on today’s announcement of the pilot scheme contract, Charlie Mack, Extern CEO, said;

“Extern are delighted to win this significant contract in Dublin which builds on our existing work in this area across Ireland. Given our experience delivering core support services for over 30 years, this award by the Department for Children and Youth Affairs, will help us to provide support to young people and their families in need.

"With the pressure on young people around crime prevention and offending, our work across all of Ireland means we are already experienced in providing high level professional support, and we have the expertise at hand to ensure young people are met at their point of need.”

The all-Ireland social justice Charity which focuses on helping families and young people annually provides intensive support to over 400 families through its family intervention programme across Ireland.
