About The Role Extern's Family Workers support the families of these young people at risk of entering the Youth Justice Detention System.The Service uses Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST), as an evidence based model of practice, as the intervention of families and seeks to support the young person's lasting behavioural changes, promoting positive social behaviours. Limerick. About the service: Extern is operating a Janus Justice Programme for young people aged 12-23 years who are involved in offending behaviour in the community. Through a tailored intensive one-to-one intervention, support is provided to the young person who is at risk of reception into custody or at risk of an escalation of their offending/ anti-social behaviours. The programme content concentrates on addressing the criminogenic risk factors leading to their offending/anti-social behaviour. The programme also aims to develop pro-social skills and behaviours, improve community involvement, provision of experiential learning opportunities, and family work to improve relationships within the home. The Janus Justice Worker will be required to deliver all aspects of the programme in a flexible manner as part of a team. You will be responsible for developing interventions with young people and their families, as well as working closely with other organisations including the Gardaí, Young Persons Probation, TUSLA, Court Services and Oberstown Children Detention Campus. This includes planned, responsive, and emergency overnight stays at Extern-approved facilities, allowing for social, educational, cultural, and recreational breaks.
