HR27 Call for Abstracts Is Open
29th Harm Reduction International Conference | 9–12 May 2027 | Belfast
The HR27 Call for Abstracts is now open.
HR27 is the 29th Harm Reduction International Conference, taking place in Belfast from 9–12 May 2027, under the theme Radical Resistance.
Extern is proud to serve as the local partner for HR27.
Abstract submission deadline: 30 September 2026
Why Does Your Abstract Matter?
Around 80% of the HR27 programme comes directly from the Call for Abstracts. This means the submissions received will play a major role in shaping the sessions, discussions and debates at the conference.
Your abstract is an opportunity to:
- Share your work — bring research, practice, projects, advocacy and new ideas to an international audience.
- Share your experience — ensure lived and living experience helps shape conversations about harm reduction.
- Influence the programme — contribute to the issues, perspectives and approaches explored at HR27.
- Challenge the status quo — explore the theme of Radical Resistance by highlighting work that challenges stigma, inequality and policies that create harm.
- Amplify diverse voices — help ensure perspectives from communities and regions traditionally underrepresented at international conferences are part of the programme.
HR27 welcomes submissions from researchers, practitioners, advocates, peer workers, community organisations, activists and people with lived and living experience.
