Recognising the Power of Giving Back – Extern’s Volunteer Celebration
Extern marked the end of Volunteers Week 2025 with a celebration event on Saturday 7 June at 2 Royal Avenue, Belfast, to recognise the incredible contributions of its dedicated volunteers across Ireland.
The event brought together volunteers, staff, and their families for an afternoon of connection, conversation, and thanks. From those offering a friendly voice on the phone to those helping deliver frontline support, volunteers are central to Extern’s mission of transforming lives and supporting people through adversity.
Guests enjoyed light refreshments, shared stories, and heard from volunteers about their experiences giving back through Extern’s wide range of services - from youth mentoring to community wellbeing programmes.
Leslie Ann Scott, CEO of Extern, said:
“Volunteers are the heartbeat of Extern. Their generosity, empathy, and commitment make an enormous difference to the people and communities we serve. We are so proud to celebrate their impact, and this event was a small way to say a big thank you.”
Extern supports over 24,000 people each year across the island of Ireland. Volunteers help extend the reach and depth of this support - offering hope, encouragement, and human connection to those who need it most.
