Extern Launches All-Island Justice Learning Hub at North South Criminology Conference
Extern's Justice Teams proudly hosted a Roundtable event at this year's Annual North South Criminology Conference, held at NUI Maynooth. This event marked the official launch of Extern's new All-Island Justice Learning Hub – an internal space designed to connect colleagues across Extern working in Youth and Adult Justice.
The Learning Hub will foster the sharing of vital knowledge, expertise, and lived experience across our services. This initiative aims to build a strong internal community committed to best practice, while also creating new opportunities for collaboration with researchers. Ultimately, it will allow us to contribute meaningfully to emerging thinking in justice policy and practice.
At Extern, we're proud to deliver services across the entire island of Ireland, engaging with diverse communities that reflect a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. This new Hub recognises and embraces that diversity, strengthening our ability to respond with insight and care.
The conference's theme, "Criminology in Polarised Times: Navigating the Future," deeply resonated with our teams. It highlighted the critical need for open, ongoing dialogue between practical experience and academic research, and the importance of building bridges between different sectors, communities, and jurisdictions, especially during challenging times.
