The Positive Learning project is supported through €1.8m of funding from the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (www.seupb.eu).

Positive Learning provides vocational training to people who find themselves on the margins of society, including people who are:

  • disadvantaged
  • homeless
  • have an offending history
  • are long-term unemployed
  • or who are refugees.

Central to the project’s work is that people from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds are brought together in the programme with a view to improving good relations.

Areas explored during the 26-week programme include community, prejudices, identity, and diversity, while skills development is also on offer in order to support participants as they aim to reintegrate into their community, including:

  • Joinery
  • ICT
  • Plumbing
  • Horticulture
  • Catering

Project partners include:

Match-funding for the project has been provided by the Executive Office in Northern Ireland and the Department of Rural and Community Development in Ireland.
