This project is part of Belfast City Council’s PEACE IV Plan, which is financed through the European Union and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

The On the Right Track! Personal Change Programme is aimed at 13 to 16-year-olds across the Belfast area who have been involved in the youth justice system for incidents related to sectarianism, interface issues and hate crime.

Through cross-community work the programme provides young people with the opportunity to explore issues of equality, identity, diversity and peace-building. By taking part in a series of groupwork programmes, sporting activities, and cultural visits and residentials, the programme helps develop their understanding and confidence. This will increase an acceptance of cultural diversity and difference, alongside personal development for each of the participants.

The programme also provides young people with one-to-one support to further understanding their values and beliefs, and support them to increase their self-awareness, understanding, confidence and self-esteem, alongside building positive relationships with others from a different community background.

Match-funding for the PEACE IV Action plan has been provided by the Executive Office in Northern Ireland and the Department of Rural and Community Development in Ireland.
