“Like so many people around the world, we in Extern have watched with shock and sadness the unfolding situation in Sudan as families have been torn apart by the fighting and many have witnessed unimaginable horrors, including the loss of loved ones.

“In particular, the fighting has caused a great deal of worry for those within our organisation who have family and friends who are caught up in the conflict. This includes members of staff who are from the Sudan, as well as some of those whom we support through our refugee resettlement services.

“Through our many years of experience to date in supporting people fleeing from other conflict zones in the Ukraine and the Middle East, we understand the impact these events can have on people, particularly those who are most vulnerable.

“Our thoughts are with those who are affected by these traumatic events, and we stand alongside our colleagues and service users to reassure them at this difficult time and to offer as much support as possible as these events continue to unfold.”
