Decisions, decisions … we don’t always like having to make them, but for those who do, becoming a Boardroom Apprentice might just be the perfect way to help Extern.

As a proud supporter of the Boardroom Apprentice programme, Extern is now asking anyone who wants to help make us even better at what we do to consider giving their personal time and play a part in something that really matters, to be prepared to be pushed outside their comfort zone, and be eager to learn and get involved.

Boardrooms are the places where decisions are made, decisions which can have a wide-ranging impact on the services we deliver each and every day.

By becoming a Boardroom Apprentice, you can use your skills and experience to play a vital role in informing the delivery of our services and the strategic direction of the organisation.

Boardroom Apprentice offers 12-month placements on boards of many well-known organisations, where you can help effect change and add your voice to the debate over how it should be run. The training, experience and support you receive will give you the extra skills and experience to put yourself forward for board membership in the future.

The programme is open to anyone aged 16-plus, of all backgrounds and abilities, and no previous experience is required

In return you get:

  • 12-months experience on our award-winning Board of Trustees
  • Training to enhance your knowledge and understanding
  • A dedicated board buddy and support from fellow Boardroom Apprentices
  • The chance to play your part in effecting change in our boardroom

If you are interested in the programme then you can find more information at

You can also find us on Twitter @BoardAppr or Facebook at

Please note that the closing date is Tuesday 24th May
