In 2020/21, the PHA have commissioned Extern to deliver three one day Needle and Syringe Exchange training courses for staff across NI involved in the delivery of the Needle and Syringe Exchange Scheme (NSES). 

This course is only for those who are sanctioned by the PHA to supply injecting equipment to others:

  1. Staff working in any of the five Community Addiction Teams provided by the local Health and Social Care Trust
  2. Staff working in PHA funded Low Threshold Teams in any of the five Health and Social Care Trusts
  3. Community pharmacy staff providing the NSES
  4. Belfast Inclusion Health Service in partnership with the Welcome Organisation’s Outreach team

These staff should complete this training, unless they have done so in the recent past. 

The training aims to enhance staff skills and understanding of best practice in the provision of injecting equipment, with further details and learning outcomes found by clicking on the More Information and Booking Form icons.
