I was getting involved in offending behaviour and had issues with school, on top of which my relationship with my family was strained.

I knew something had to change in my life, so when my keyworker called to my house to tell me about Extern, I decided to go out that very day to a session and see what it was about.

It was a good decision for me, as the programme has given me the opportunity to talk about what is going on in my life and my behaviour. I feel supported when I go on my sessions, and we discuss many things like offending, curfews and staying safe. Just the break away from my routine helps me in trying to figure things out.

I really enjoyed going away on my first overnight stay from home, and you can do things like day trips as well, which are important.

It’s just been nice to have someone to talk to who I know is never judging me, and I also know that there are other young people out there and that I’m not the only teenager in my area who needs support.
