This Communities in Transition Project provides employability and training opportunities to those aged 16-plus living in the Brandywell and Creggan areas of Derry-Londonderry.

Funded through The Executive Office, the project aims to improve employability skills and create meaningful pathways into work for those who have been involved in, or those at a higher risk of becoming involved in paramilitary activity, criminality or organised crime.

Through an intensive programme of activity, the project aims to overcome barriers to employability for participants.

This is achieved through:

  1. developing individual support plans based on each participant’s needs
  2. work-readiness mentoring
  3. soft skills development
  4. wrap-around training
  5. a 24-week paid work placement with a suitable local employer.

Participants are also provided with accredited educational and vocational training programmes tailored to their specific needs.

Those taking part will also benefit from site visits and field trips which may help support their journey.
