The Summer Camp is based at Extern's Youth Villages and offers children aged between eight and sixteen years of age fun, excitement and a range of new activities in a safe environment.
Referral Criteria (A client should meet at least one of those set out below)

The child is assessed as being 'in need' by the referrer.

Social Worker referrals are limited to those aged 8-13 years. (Those already on an Extern programme and aged up to 17 years of age are also included).

Respite for the child or/and his/her carers.

The child is in need and would not have a summer holiday.

The child is currently referred to an Extern Programme.

The child lives in rural isolation and cannot normally access mainstream summer provision.

The child is socially excluded from mainstream provision or lives in an area deprived of such provision.

Hardiker levels 2-4.
Programme Content
Highly structured opportunities are offered to each child and may include the following options:

Water activities such as canoeing, sailing and power boat.

Adventure Course including water jumps and aerial runway.

Sports including football, hockey and baseball.
-
Arts, crafts, drama, music, dance.
-
Competitions, quizzes and shows. • Group participative games and activities.

Bicycle treks.
-
Hill walking, fishing and trips to Forest Parks.
Camp Duration
Summer Camp occurs in the months of July and August.

Experienced and qualified staff supervise all outdoor activities.

The activity options are provided to parents in the Camp Information Brochure and they must provide their written consent for the child's participation in these.
